Nine lakes are sampled on a bi-weekly basis. These lakes include North Floyd, Little Floyd, Big Detroit, Curfman, Sallie, Melissa, St. Clair, Munson, and Abbey. Samples are collected at all lakes for total phosphorus and orthophosphates. Phosphate is a limiting nutrient in freshwater ecosystems and plays a role in the growth of algae. Some lakes are sampled for chlorophyll a. Water clarity ratings are determined using a Secchi disk and values for pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, and temperature are measured from the surface to the lake bottom.
